Does anybody know of a month longer than January?! January never seems to end. This is made so by the fact that your extremely philanthropic habits and partying indulgences in December catch up with you in the new year ; something your landlord is not particularly sympathetic about. But amidst all, we cannot ignore the exhilarating feeling of ‘crossing over’ to a new year.
For those involved, the hall mark of the new year season has to be back to school. Back to school is an exciting time for those in school and for parents, a time to shop for among other things, reliable school shoes their school going children..
How to buy school shoes
1. Get the right fit – The shoe wearer should have their feet measured. School-going pupils or students are still growing and thus the size could have changed.
2. Go leather! – With leather being a flexible material the shoes actually become more comfortable with time since moulds to the feet of the wearer with time. This leaves no room for blisters and foot pain. What’s more? Leather is a breathable material meaning feet will stay dry and cool.
3. Looks do matter - Choose shoes that students will be proud to wear. Kids want to look good especially on their first day of school.
4. A stitch in time – You can make school shoes last longer by getting the soles replaced and or repaired. Unlike other types of shoes that require the whole shoe to be replaced. By fixing your shoes instead of just replacing them you’re even helping the environment.
So, how do we survive January? Brad gave us this thought provoking answer when we asked the question on our Facebook page.
In a nutshell, you can avoid another ‘tough’ January if you simply Start. Saving. Now.

It’s that time again ladies and gents. It is that time when we start a fresh. When, we make resolutions. We feel refreshed. We start allover. We swear that we will never miss a gym session again…or that we’ll get started. We promise ourselves that we will never touch a cigarette again, or that we’ll try.. We resolve to eat more vegetables and treat ourselves better….It’s that time of the year when friends and foe send us colourful SMSes like “…may your prayers get full media coverage in heaven like the Hague hearings..”
Ahh. The new year is here with us.
2012 is a leap year, which means we have 366 days to account for! Never mind the fact that we are not in control of what will happen in the next second, minute, hour, day, week or even month.
All we can do is plan, and summon the determination to carry through with our plans.
As you make your new-year’s resolutions (or not!) , here is wishing you a brilliant 2012.
Happy New Year to You!!!
Cheers to a new year and another chance for us to get it right. ~ Oprah Winfrey
